The Excitement of hearing the words “we are going to camp next term” !! That is when it all started. All holidays i was thinking about camp how fun it would be and each week in term 4 we would talk about it in our class. Finally the week of camp was here ! when i woke up on thursday morning my heart was racing, i couldn't be more excited i got to school at precisely eight AM.
We arrived at Shakespear Lodge after a long car ride we were finally here. The first thing we did was have some morning tea. As we were eating we saw the year sixes they were still there doing their cool activities so we got a sneak peak of what we might be doing. After that we went down to the beach and played capture the flag it was Colenso and Atkin VS Selwyn and Pattison, We played a few games then we gathered our stuff and walked back up to the lodge. On the way back up there was a very nice walkway surrounded by trees.
It was time to start our first activities, we got into our groups. The teachers called out the activities that each group were doing “Yesss !”i whispered “My group is doing archery.” We all jumped up and went to our instructors and we walked our way down to the archery set up. First we got a briefing it was quite long but it was fine, then we started. We made our way to the end of our lesson it was really fun ! I was sad but to cheer me up we were doing kayaking next ! Next we went to the gear shed to put our life jackets on. We then got another briefing except it was about kayaking. Lucky for me i've kayaked before so i had lots of knowledge, We hopped in the water and stated to paddle around. Once we got used to it we played really awesome games
Like standing up on our kayaks and swapping places with our partner, catch with a tennis ball and loads more. Sadly kayaking finished so we went to take our life jackets off at the gear shed and made our way back to camp we had afternoon tea it was really nice, (there was lots of junk food!) after that we just had some time to do whatever we like for around an hour or two. “Mmmmmmmmm” I said “this hamburger is delicious” It was time for dinner, while we were eating everyone was talking about how fun spotlight is going to be, “it will be dark and scary but still fun at the same time” Finally spotlight time ! We all got into to groups of three or four I was with mieke and keisha. The aim of the game was to make your way to the bell and ring it without getting spotted it was hard. After the first round I decided I wanted to be a spotter i went at the back of the rock climbing wall because that is wear everyone goes, I got lucky a cought about 20 people ! I was really tired so my friends and I went to have a shower and then we went to bed.
“Morning everyone” Amanda said “time to get dressed and do our hair, once we were ready we went up for breakfast, I had rice bubbles and toast. It was time for our first activity of the day. We had mountain boarding, at first I was kinda scared because I stared on the steep slope. Mountain boarding came to an end, i was really happy that i got an opportunity to do mountain boarding it was a new experience. Luckly next i had raft building ! It was so fun tying all the notes making sure everything was sucre then finally we got to take it out ! we all sat on it stood up even jumped off at the end. That activite was definitely my favorite ! Sadly it was time to go :( i packed up all my stuff making sure I didn't leave anything behind then we got into our car groups and left. On the way back i thought about all things I can tell my mum, when I got home i flopped into bed and slept.
